Litany for Advent
Father of Heaven, God, have mercy on us
Son, Redeemer of the world, God…
Holy Spirit, God…
Holy Trinity, One God…
Jesus, The Word of the Eternal Father, through which everything happened…
Jesus, The Eternal Word, which in time became flesh…
Jesus, The Messiah promised in the old Covenant…
Jesus, The Messiah promised by prophecy and announced by the angels…
Jesus, desired by the nations…
Jesus, The Savior, sent to this world by the Father…
Jesus, A Savior, announced by the Holy Spirit…
Jesus, Son of the Virgin Mary…
Jesus, who by becoming human made us partakers of the divine nature…
Jesus, our salvation and hope…
Jesus, our Emmanuel, that is, God with us…
Be merciful to us, let us pass, Jesus.
Be merciful to us, hear us out, Jesus.
From all evil, save us, Jesus.
From all sins…
From a hardened and false heart…
From all bad addictions…
From all anger…
From bad death and damnation…
By your holy coming…
Through the sacred mystery of Your Incarnation…
By your immaculate conception…
On judgment day…
We are the sinners, we ask you, hear us out, Jesus.
That you would be willing to free us from our sins…
That you would be willing to prepare a place worthy of you for you…
So that we can always rejoice only in you…
That you would be willing to protect us at all times and to cover us with the arm of your power…
That you would make us joint heirs in your kingdom…
Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, let us pass, Lord.
Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, hear us out, Lord.
Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Heaven, drain the righteous as dew.
Let it flow from the clouds like rain.
God, You see, with what faith we await Christmas, make it happen, that we may prepare our hearts and joyfully celebrate the great mystery of our salvation. Through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
