Joshua a biblical prediction of Christ

jozueMoses, instructed by God, chose a helper during his lifetime. It was Joshua, syn Nuna (Pwt 1, 37n). After Moses died, he led Abraham's descendants and brought them into the land promised by God. Having conquered most of the country, Joshua divided the earth between 12 Israeli generations. Only the line of Levi, which Moses was destined for the ministry of the Holy Tabernacle, he did not receive the land. These generations will have to fight more than once to keep the conquered lands in the future. Nevertheless, the land of Canaan will henceforth be the homeland and beloved heritage of Israel. The Land of Canaan Became "Holy Land". It reminded each Israelite of God's special protection and obliged them to be faithful to God. It still resembled, that God's chosen people may fulfill their mission with greater zeal, he was an example of a holy life and faith in one God.
Joshua was not only a warrior, but also the religious leader of the nation. He cared about it, that the people may be faithful to God. To this end, he twice renewed his covenant with God (Joz 8, 30-35 and 24, 1-28). In this way, he wanted to bind the nation more closely with God and deepen the unity between individual generations. He was aware of it, that if the Israelites did not stand by the faith of their fathers, they will be influenced by paganism. Then they can easily lose their faith and national independence. That is why Joshua built an altar to the Lord God of Israel, on Mount Ebal… and offered a burnt offering to God on it… And on the stones he wrote a repetition of the Mosaic Law (by. Joz 8, 30-32).
When Joshua was dying, so he spoke to his people : “I have to go the way myself, everyone goes, and you understand it with all your heart and soul, that with all the glorious promises, which God has promised, your Lord, not one has failed : they all came true for you; neither of them has become vain. But how were all the promises made by your God for your benefit?, so the Lord himself will carry out all his threats against you… if you break the covenant " (Joz 23, 14-16).

Joshua has the same name as the Lord Jesus, and that means : "Savior".

Joshua brought the chosen people into the Promised Land. Jesus Christ through his death on the cross, through the resurrection and the glorious ascension it brings us to the new Promised Land, which is heaven. So Joshua is the biblical foreshadowing of Christ, and the Promised Land foreshadows heaven.
